More than it should be.
I wonder if we can have it both ways—
selfish? Maybe.
Definitely impossible.
But I wouldn’t be satisfied if this didn’t play out
until one of us found tombstones,
or slowly became a beautiful piece of body art—
another scar to contemplate,
nostalgia,
a secret between us.

There’s something about playing with fire—
the way heat licks at your skin,
not enough to burn, just enough to make you stay.
But it isn’t even that…

Have you ever found this steadiness anywhere else?
Where you can just be—
the air thick with what we don’t say,
lungs full, hearts in rhythm,
nothing shifting beneath your feet—
and it’s okay.
More than okay.

And besides,
you started it.
So tell me,
what now?
