Layered Fragments, Becoming Whole

Persephone’s Pomegranate

A garden
blooms into
flowing fountain
c a s c a d i n g
decadent milk
As c r u s h e d jasmine flowers
Join velvet b l o o d rose petals
Kissing full African marigolds
Floating in time
Captured wonder only to
Flow deep into a copper soaking tub
at the edge of the world
My gaze softens
As fingertips brush liquid silk
The memory of you
Brings a shiver d o w n my spine
As thin cloth falls onto warm stones
I step in
And sink d e e p
To release held in heat
Bathing
As the birds sing under the sun
I look up at the sky
Bright and blue
Slow moving clouds
Mirroring honeyed limbs
Dipped in white
A rustle of the leaves above

Before the raven lands
Swirling ink feathers
M o r p h i n g into my god of the dead
Your lips find mine

B r u i s i n g

As I soak into
You
