Night Terrors

Extremities
Bound, invisible rope
As the pit in mind's eye
Opens wide,

S c r e a m i n g

Sucked into

a void

Body petrified
held inside a prism
with him s i t t i n g
on my chest
Tap, tap
long bony finger p r e s s i n g
into my forehead
Tap, tap

Black ink balloons, pulsating mist
C l o a k s
A hooded face

Tap, tap
Tendrils of smoke rise
Choking air
Tap, Tap

I scream
Mouth wide, wider
Fleshy worm, peeled back
Sound
muted by dense fog

wake up, marigold
wake up, jasmine
Wake
Up.

The moon hovering above
Slow fall
Closing in
Pressure builds
Weighing
Down

He turns his head to the east

Tears run down my cheeks
my eyelids are glued
Like a fetus
Not quite formed

Small movements in a strait jacket
an eternal burn
until the sun comes up
