Leaving You

water drops

The tears came before I knew

a torrent

On an ordinary day.

Then

It came again

When the evening hour

Colored the winter sky

A blue grey.

I sat there

On the bus

Going someplace

As I stared into the world

Through the dirty window

I distinctly remember

looking away.

Only to be drawn back in

By

A lamp post.

Its thin light glowing

Weakly.

And they came

Unannounced

Rolling

From my eyes in disarray.

Large droplets

Falling into the abyss.

My heart

Aching to understand

Why?

I felt so broken.

But

I knew

I knew

It meant

Decay.
